resistance + zine fair Sunday 24 August @ The People's Letters in London, UK.
Sharing political/caring/angry/calm/stirring zines + artwork from local artists and organisers. All proceeds from the event will go to mutual aids and organising work. Including this mutual aid for Raed and his family in Gaza. We encourage you to send over any funds you can before the event!
Zine + art tables will be open for guests throughout the fair!
12 - 12:45 pm - Doors open! Welcome + open forum w/ solidarity notes & intro to Duterte Panagutin campaign
1 - 1:30 pm - Lunch served from chef flame, mapusoc, and echo
1:30 - 2:00 pm - From Palestine to the Philippines, Stop the US War Machine by Anakbayan UK - 30 minute teach-in
- An interactive teach-in open to anyone to join. Learn about the extensions of US empire across the Philippines today and its connections to Palestine's struggle and liberation.
2:15 - 3:15 pm - Imaging Resistance by Chi + Kerrica - 1hr workshop (downstairs)
- A workshop using play and improv to explore resistance, solidarity, and community care. No experience required to participate. Active observation is very welcome!
4pm onwards - Karaoke & kamayan, evening meal served from chef eagle and romeo
General tickets for entry to the fair are separate to workshop bookings and raffle ticket!
Serving hot Filipino food and desserts, Gaza Cola, and decaf hot drinks. Tap water available. We invite people to bring their own mugs/bowls/whatever to minimise on waste - there is a sink to wash up too.
Gender neutral toilets on site. And a quiet area downstairs that's available anytime around 2-3.30pm (when the workshop's happening!).
Feel free to bring a picnic blanket or pillow for the downstairs area <3
The event will not be wheelchair accessible unfortunately, however if you were hoping to come in and need this access you're welcome to get in touch with us at anakbayanuk@gmail.com or via our instagram @anakbayanuk, so we can arrange something for you. Some workshops are scheduled in the basement area that's only accessible via stairs. Where you can browse and buy zines and artwork will be wheelchair accessible as well as one of the toilets.
