Writing Workshop with Alessandra Thom
Aberdeen Butch Club presents a writing workshop led by Alessandra Thom, author of “Summer Hours” and shortlisted as Best Rising Scottish Author by The List Festival Award 2025.
This event is open to all queer women aged 18+ and will take place from 12 to 2pm at Gaelic Lane Cafe + Studio.
The theme is “Writing Queerness through the City”. You will be reading and discussing a few short excerpts from novels and short stories, and then writing from a prompt that Aless will provide and sharing your work with the others if you want to do so.

Aless grew up in Aberdeenshire. She was a Scottish Book Trust New Writers Awardee for Prose in 2023 and the runner-up in the Short Fiction International Short Story Prize 2024. “Summer Hours” is her debut novel.
