The award-winning Show People Podcast with Andrew Keates is a monthly LIVE event at the iconic Two Brewers, Clapham. Spend the evening in the company of stars from stage and screen. Every ticket sold to these intimate events directly supports Queer Theatre, helping us fund new LGBTQIA+ theatre projects and nurture Queer theatre-makers.
Hosted by acclaimed theatre director and Queer Theatre’s Artistic Director Andrew Keates, the podcast offers intimate, revealing conversations with leading figures from the performing arts. Funny, fearless, and deeply engaging, each live recording shines a spotlight on the UK performing arts industry and the people who dedicate their lives to it.
This September, Queer Theatre welcomes Olivier Award-winning actress and recording artist Cassidy Janson.
Best known for originating the role of Anne Hathaway/Mrs Shakespeare in Max Martin’s smash-hit musical & Juliet, Cassidy won the Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical. She also starred as Carole King in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical at London’s Aldwych Theatre, earning rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, and a heartfelt endorsement from Carole King herself, who said Janson’s performance “literally brought me to tears.”
Beyond her stage triumphs, Cassidy was one third of the vocal supergroup Leading Ladies, alongside Amber Riley and Beverley Knight. Their debut album Songs from the Stage was nominated for a Classical Brit Award. Cassidy has also shared the stage with Carole King at London’s Hyde Park, performing to 65,000 people at BST Festival.
Her theatre credits span an extraordinary range, including Dessa Rose (Trafalgar Studios) opposite Cynthia Erivo, Tick, Tick… Boom! (Menier Chocolate Factory) with Neil Patrick Harris, Candide (Menier Chocolate Factory), Lend Me a Tenor (Gielgud Theatre), Company (Southwark Playhouse), Avenue Q (Wyndham’s Theatre), Wicked (Apollo Victoria) and Chess (English National Opera, Coliseum). On screen, she has appeared in The Hike, Tail’s End, Day Trip to London, Full Circle and Coma, with television performances including the Royal Variety Performance, The Graham Norton Showand Strictly Come Dancing.
Cassidy released her debut solo album on BMG, featuring original music and a previously unreleased Carole King track. She was also the first musical theatre performer to hold a residency at Ronnie Scott’s, cementing her reputation as one of the UK’s most versatile and exciting performers.
