Join Arachne Press and poet/artist/musician Hannah ‘Hunter’ Hull for a free online event to celebrate the launch of poetry/art collection Home is a place that visits me.
Home is a place that visits me is a poetic narrative of the home, childhood, trauma, family... through poems and a series of monoprints, chosen for their often crude and childlike impression to indicate the child’s eye view of the effects of trauma. The poems and prints create a series of vignettes.

It’s normal for children to believe in monsters.
To check under the bed.
And behind the curtains. And the wardrobe. And the cupboards.
And to check the windows and door handles and plug sockets.
And to do it in a special, secret sequence.
The one that is most effective.
And another one just in case.
Every night. Twice. Or more, as necessary.
(And say to the light switches: “I know you’re watching me.”)
This is how to stop bad things happening.
We will be sharing Hannah's artist film that goes with the book, and there will be a Q&A with Hannah and editor Cherry Potts, and a short reading.

This is a haunting, genre-defying piece of poetic brilliance which hovers halfway between luminosity and darkness… However hard the subject matter, Hull’s skill and creativity fills me with hope.

What stays is the sense of these harrowing poems being a clear-eyed reckoning.
