Otherness4Transsexualism is a collaborative film screening organised by Otherness Archive and Punk4Transsexualism to sustain our two organisations - through our efforts we want to see TRANS PEOPLE OVERTHROW THE STATE AND BE TRANS AS FUCK.
Our fundraising screening will be a selection of works by trans and queer filmmakers, focusing on the intersections of identity, culture, migration, and sex work.
These works are digital records of reality, some of them act as a past and present synthesized archive, as the record button is pressed on the camera, others exist only in the now. They can be re-lived and re-discovered when preservation allows them to survive.
As occupiers of gender, sexuality, culture, and politics, the protagonists of the films dwell on the borders of identity that are unique to their experience. What is the true meaning of a home? What is a border? Who allows us these rights?
Otherness Archive is a home for trans and queer audiovisual works, sheltering not only the filmmakers, but also fostering artist communities. Through our work, we are able to create a digital space to remember our past and dream our futures. Your support is crucial for the longevity of our archive and organisations.
The screening will be followed by an open mic, where attendees are invited to share their thoughts, writing, and music.

Film Synopsis:
The Status of Eastness • Arti Siudem • United Kingdom • 2025 • 20 min
What is East and what is West in the context of Europe? How does the prime meridian line in London's Greenwich not only divide the world into the western and eastern hemispheres but also create a symbolic understanding of one's proximity to civilisation? By focusing on Poland, a country in-between the "core" and the "periphery", I explore how identities may be built on the basis of who we are not, and how this results in the creation of a category of "the Other" that we can burden with all the unwanted traits. This autoethnographic desktop documentary film is then an invitation to reflect on the general approach to looking at someone else through a hierarchical lens.
Chi Chi’s House Party • Stone Dove Collective (Chi Chi Castillo & May May Peltier) • United States • 2018 • 19 min
A group of friends play with knives and reminisce about robbing evil johns whilst supernatural lovers, Mariah Carey sing-a-longs, noise music, and erotic holes in the wall tie together queer punks at a house party in Oakland.
Home.Revolution • Xiaoqi Yang • China & United Kingdom • 2025 • 39 min
Home.Revolution is an intimate first-person documentary that captures the quiet turbulence between tradition and identity within a Chinese family. Shot in the autumn of 2023 in Nanjing, the film follows director Xiaoqi Yang’s return home after studying in the UK, viewed through a queer lens. What begins as a seemingly trivial dispute over hair length gradually reveals deeper tensions—between generations, gender norms, and the invisible boundaries of love and expectation. Filmed with a handheld camera in a poetic, voyeuristic style, the documentary explores the intergenerational gaze upon queerness in East Asian society. Through candid moments with a father, mother, grandmother, and cousin, Home.Revolution becomes both personal and political: a soft-spoken yet radical act of queer resistance within the domestic sphere. At once tender and tense, observational and reflective, the film invites viewers to witness a quiet revolution unfold—not on the streets, but in the living room.
