In the spirit of ESEA heritage month, we invite you to join us in a special event where we bring together textile-weaving and poetry-making as carriers for our embodied reflections on death, grief & resilience.
Yian is a visual artist and community facilitator with a focus on tactile-based practices and feminist diasporic narratives. She is dedicated to creating neurodiverse and inclusive creative sessions.
Jo is the founder and facilitator of 53 Death Cafe. They are passionate about creating generative spaces for conversations and artistic creations on topics of death and dying. They also work as a health and wellbeing coach, with a focus on nurturing feminist and abolitionist care.
Neurodivergence-friendly:
We'll have a flexible structure with multiple ways to participate (writing, speaking, movement, silence). You can stim, fidget, or step out whenever you need. We’ll offer grounding practices and clear transitions throughout.
Trauma-informed:
Everything is optional. We'll let you know if something may be emotionally activating, and you can always opt out, take a break, or just observe.
FLINTA-affirming:
This is a space where misogyny, transphobia, and queerphobia are not welcome. We centre voices and safety for women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender people.
Disability justice-informed:
We honour body&mind differences. We’re doing our best to make this event physically, sensorially, and emotionally accessible. There’s no “normal” way to show up.
