SURVIVORHOOD: the grief of interpersonal and state violence
TRIBE was created out of survival. Through experiencing repeated abuse within “community spaces” as dark-skinned queer people, we truly felt disillusioned with the word community and lost hope of finding community in this apathetic climate.
We have partnered with Black Queer BPD Circle UK to curate our upcoming event. This event is for those who carry that loneliness of survivorhood. You deserve community, you deserve care, and you deserve understanding. We will use poetry from June Jordan and excerpts from Audre Lorde to ground ourselves throughout this open discussion.
We want this event — like all our past and future events — to be a place for dreaming. Beyond what we have experienced, what is our hope for ourselves and our community? What safety and peace do we desire, and how can being in community turn dream into reality?
