A night celebrating women in horror and the power of genre storytelling.
This Halloween season, SHORTIES invites you to an evening of bold, unsettling, and beautifully crafted short films — each directed by women and non-binary filmmakers pushing the boundaries of horror, thriller, and the uncanny.
Expect stories that unsettle and inspire — from eerie psychological tales to sharp, satirical scares — all united by a shared spirit of creativity and defiance.
Guests will be welcomed with a complimentary spooky cocktail before we dim the lights for a screening of short films that spotlight female voices in genre filmmaking and explore what happens when women take control of fear itself.
After the screening, stay for our panel discussion: Women in Genre – Power, Perspective, and the Art of Fear. Together, we’ll explore how women have long used horror and genre cinema to challenge expectations, reclaim narrative space, and tell stories that demand to be heard.
We encourage guests to come dressed in subtle costume or a nod to their favourite horror icon — a quiet homage to the characters who’ve inspired us to create, scream, and survive.
📍 Location: The RSA, 8 John Adams Street WC2N
📅 Date: October 24th
🕗 Time: 6pm–10pm
Join us for a night of film, conversation, and community — celebrating women who transform fear into art and storytelling into power.
