In 1981, The Roxy Theatre took a chance on a little-known comedian named Paul Reubens and his eccentric character, Pee Wee Herman. His show had moved from the famous Groundlings School to the Roxy Theatre – the famed music venue on Sun Set Strip - thanks to an ever growing cult following, so needed a bigger theatre. Between May & July 1981, The Pee Wee Herman Show would run 3 sold out nights in a row. The HBO cable network taped one of these shows and aired it as a special that year. This nightclub performance was for an adult audience rather than the later children's TV series. Here we celebration of the life and work of the great Paul Reubens.
