About the Sharing
After three years away, How Disabled Are You? returns for redevelopment, and you’re invited to witness part of its rebirth.
Join us for a special sharing of a new 20 minute section of the show, developed during Tommy’s residency at Brighton Dome. The piece continues to interrogate real attitudes towards disability and the systems that shape our lives, asking: what does care really look like, and who gets to receive it?
This section has been developed collaboratively with director Deirdre McLaughlin, sound composer Zygmund de Somogyi, and projection designer Ivy Dillion. It is also developed in collaboration with Brighton Dome and Possability People. Following the sharing, audiences are invited to stay for an optional feedback and discussion session - the full experience will take no more than an hour.
Content Note
This work includes themes relating to disability rights and suicide.
Please note, there will be a photographer/videographer present to capture content at the 3pm sharing.
Access in Anita's Room at Brighton Dome
Anita’s Room is accessible via the front of house lift and is on a level surface with no steps. If you have any access questions or need further details, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
About the Show
Originally created and performed by Tommy in 2018, How Disabled Are You? places real disabled voices at the centre of the conversation. It asks 2 disabled people with no performance background to take to the stage and read a script for the first time in front of a live audience - confronting public opinion, policy, and prejudice head-on.
The result is raw, tender, furious, and full of truth. This redevelopment explores care, community, and rebirth in a political landscape where those conversations are needed more than ever.
