This intimate event offers a rare glimpse into the personal journeys of the people who help make Hidayah’s work possible. Through honest conversations and heartfelt stories, our volunteers will share what brought them to Hidayah, how their identities and values shape their involvement, and what it means to serve and support LGBTQ+ Muslims.
Expect an evening of vulnerability, inspiration, and community. Whether you’re curious to learn more about Hidayah, looking to connect with like-minded individuals, or simply want to hear meaningful stories that don’t often get told, this event is for you.

Hidayah’s mission is to provide support and welfare for LGBTQI+ Muslims. Our vision is to ensure our voices are heard and understood. We are a mix of practising and non-practising Muslims, and we warmly welcome friends, families and allies to our events.

Do I need to be a Hidayah member to attend the event?
Yes, anyone attending a Hidayah event needs sign up for membership via our website and the Yoti app. This protects safeguarding and ensure that everyone in attendance is who they say they are. Any data collected remains confidential and securely encrypted. If you do not want to use the Yoti app, please get in touch with our membership team (membership@hidayahlgbt.co.uk), so we can arrange a manual verification via video call.
Will it cost me anything to become a Hidayah member?
For the purpose of attending an event, no. You can attend an event by signing up for As-Shams, our free tier for queer Muslims, and al-Halif, our free tier for allies. Our paid tiers give you access to other membership perks. Find out more by going to https://hidayahlgbt.com/membership.
Where is the event happening? I can't see a link to the online event.
We will send the link to the event to attendees one day before the event. Please do not share the link with anyone not attending the event.
What behaviour is expected during the online event?
We ask all attendees to engage respectfully and kindly. Disruptive, discriminatory, or abusive behavior will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the session.
Will the online event be recorded?
No, the event will not be recorded.
What should I do if I feel uncomfortable or unsafe during the session?
Please contact the designated safeguarding lead, whose details will be shared at the start of the webinar. You can also privately message the host for support.
Will my personal information be shared?
No. We comply with GDPR and will not share your data without consent. Any information you provide will be handled securely.
Is my face going to be shown during the event?
No, Hidayah will turn off all videos and microphones to all guests.
Can I post an anonymous question during the Q&A session?
Yes, Hidayah will manages access restrictions to allow guests to post anonymous messages and questions, which will only be seen by Hidayah.
Can I share the online event link with others?
No, please do not share the link with others. This allows us to adhere to our community guidelines and safeguarding principles. If you have a friend who wants to attend the event, please make sure they sign up via OutSavvy and Hidayah membership.
What topics will be discussed, and are any of them sensitive?
Yes, senstive topics will be discussed during the event e.g. identity, trauma, religion. We’ll provide a content warning at the start of the session. You’re welcome to step away at any time.
I'm not an LGBTQI Muslim but I am an ally. Can I still attend?
We warmly welcome partners, friends and family of queer Muslims to our events as we believe your support and solidarity is invaluable.
I'm not sure about my gender identity/sexuality, or I'm not a very practising Muslim. Can I attend?
We don't gatekeep when it comes to being queer or being Muslim. We know there is no one way of being either. Whatever level you practise Islam and are LGBTQ is fine with us; if you identify as such, that's enough for us.
Is the event free?
This event is offered on a pay-as-you'd-like basis because we want it to be accessible to everyone.
