And we're back! Whilst we still aim to be a safe space aimed at trans participants, these four sessions are open to anyone in the queer community under the same price structure.
These sessions are aimed at beginners in order to progress everyone who attends from no Meisner knowledge to understanding the basics of the repetition exercise which forms the backbone of Meisner practice. It will likely be a mixed ability group, so don't worry about feeling as if you have too little or too much experience. You'll get your workout either way!
The Meisner technique is an approach to acting grounded in honest observations and impulsive responses. Its explorations of what it means to “live truthfully” and exist purely in the moment make it a fascinating compliment to explorations of gender.
As an acting technique, it forms the bedrock of the practice of many influential actors, including Sean Astin (LoTR), Sebastian Stan (Captain America), Carrie-Ann Moss (The Matrix), Jeff Goldblum (You know who he is) and more, as well as being used as a fundamental part of training at drama schools such as RADA.
Classes will be taking place downstairs in the upstairs rehearsal space in Chats Palace, Hackney, from 6pm-9pm on Wednesday's from the 5th-26th of November.
Unfortunatly the upstairs space at Chats Palace is not wheelchair accessible.
Please buy a ticket in advance if you plan on attending, we need to get a sense for numbers for each session!
