🌈✨ Hidayah Autumn Walk in London ✨🌈
Hidayah is a charity dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ Muslims, creating safe and welcoming spaces for friendship, community, and joy.
This December, as autumn’s colours fade into winter’s crisp air, we invite you to join us for a gentle stroll through one of London’s iconic parks. Along the way, we’ll pause at some of its landmarks, sip hot drinks, and enjoy the company of our wonderful queer community.
Highlights of the Afternoon:
- A relaxed walk through the park’s scenic paths
- Stops at iconic monuments
- Optional lunch afterwards to continue the conversation
Whether you’re here for the fresh air, the laughter, or the chance to connect, this event promises warmth, community, and a touch of seasonal magic.
Come join us for an afternoon of conversation, connection, and coziness. We’d love to see you there!
About Hidayah:
Hidayah’s mission is to provide support and welfare for LGBTQI+ Muslims. Our vision is to ensure our voices are heard and understood. We are a mix of practising and non-practising Muslims, and we warmly welcome friends, families and allies to our events.
If you are an LGBTQI Muslim in financial difficulty and you wish to attend the event, please email our Events Team at events@hidayahlgbt.co.uk.
Please note that Hidayah's first priority is always to safeguard the wellbeing of volunteers and service users. Hidayah therefore reserves the right to refuse or refund tickets at its discretion. Any decision to do so is not made lightly and will only ever be on the basis of safeguarding.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a Hidayah member to attend the event?
Yes, anyone attending a Hidayah event needs sign up for membership via our website and the Yoti app. This protects safeguarding and ensure that everyone in attendance is who they say they are. Any data collected remains confidential and securely encrypted. If you do not want to use the Yoti app, please get in touch with our membership team (membership@hidayahlgbt.co.uk), so we can arrange a manual verification via video call.
Will it cost me anything to become a Hidayah member?
For the purpose of attending an event, no. You can attend an event by signing up for As-Shams, our free tier for queer Muslims, and al-Halif, our free tier for allies. Our paid tiers give you access to other membership perks. Find out more by going to https://hidayahlgbt.com/membership.
Where is the event happening? I can't see an address.
We will send the address to attendees two days before the event. Please do not share the address with anyone not attending the event. Rest assured the walk will take place in Central London.
I don't want any pictures posted online of me from the event. Can I opt out?
Yes, of course! We are keen to ensure this is a safe space for you. Please inform our Events team and we can provide you with a sticker so we know not to photograph you.
I'm not an LGBTQI Muslim but I am an ally. Can I still attend?
We warmly welcome partners, friends and family of queer Muslims to our events as we believe your support and solidarity is invaluable. But we do ask for more in the ticket price to reflect the community we serve.
I'm not sure about my gender identity/sexuality, or I'm not a very practising Muslim. Can I attend?
We don't gatekeep when it comes to being queer or being Muslim. We know there is no one way of being either. Whatever level you practise Islam and are LGBTQ is fine with us; if you identify as such, that's enough for us.
How long will the walk last?
1.5 hours - 2 hours
Will there be stops for bathroom breaks?
Yes - the route is planned to provide bathroom breaks.
Do I have to attend the lunch?
No, the lunch is optional. Feel free to join us to carry on with conversations and connect with others!
Is lunch provided by Hidayah?
No, the cost for the optional lunch is not included.
What do I need to wear?
Please wear warm, suitable, comfy clothing for walking outdoors. You may need to bring an umbrella so please check the weather on the day.
Will the event go ahead in rain, snow, or icy conditions?
We will review the weather throughout the week of the event, and decide if the weather is suitable. If the weather conditions are not suitable, then we will need to postpone. Please review your inbox closer to the date to see any updates.
Is the walk suitable for all ages and fitness levels?
Yes, we welcome everyone with all abilities. The walk will go at a slow, gentle pace.
