All experience levels are welcome, whether you’re totally new to DJing or already exploring sound, vibration, and rhythm. (Beginner DJs are especially welcome)
We’ll open from 6:30pm. The workshop runs from 7:00pm to 8:30pm, followed by a social for the rest of the evening with a set from Kikazaru.
This event will run entirely in BSL.
Rave culture has always been about bringing people together, and Queer House Party has always looked for new ways to open the dancefloor to more of our community.
Since early this year, QHP resident DJ Harry Gay has been collaborating with Deaf DJ Kikazaru on Deaf/hearing back-to-back sets. Through this process, both artists have been able to exchange completely different perspectives on how they experience music, shaping their practice in exciting new ways. Now they want to support a new cohort of Deaf DJs - because making rave and electronic music accessible doesn’t just open doors, it pushes the culture forward and helps it thrive!
Everyone who attends will be added to the guest list for the next Queer House Party on December 20th, where Harry Gay and Kikazaru will close the night with a B2B set. We want to see more D/deaf DJs in the booth and ravers on our dancefloors!
The event takes place at Coven, London’s only Black-owned queer venue, run by Matthew Jacobs Morgan, who is fluent in BSL. Unfortunately, the space is not wheelchair accessible; entry is via a staircase from the front entrance up into the club.
This workshop is funded by QHP, and spaces are FREE.
