SONGWRITING: WOMEN’S WORK
Saturday 7 March, 1pm–4.30pm
The Deep End: 21 Nithsdale Street G41 2PZ
Join songwriter Lou Mclean as she leads a creative workshop designed to teach participants about Scotland’s rich history of women songwriters. From the Waulking songs of the 1800s to present day, working class women have been underrepresented in Scottish songwriting history.
This workshop is designed to empower women and girls in particular to tell their stories through song, and follow in the footsteps of our unsung heroines. This event provides a space to share ideas and build community through songwriting and paper collage. After the workshop, there will be a short acoustic performance of Lou’s newly released debut album: ‘Outline Of A Girl’.
