A walk in a Central London Park to celebrate the abundance of Winter.

We'll be moving slowly, identifying plants and fungi, sharing their stories, and speaking about the broader themes surrounding foraging.

We might chat about:

"How to look" for plants/mushrooms. Sometimes it’s the small details that distinguish an edible species from a toxic one. We’ll speak about plant and fungal morphology, focusing on a few key families.
The ecological roles of plants/fungi that we are looking at.
Foragers’ storytelling, including folklore, tradition, and famous plants and fungi from history.
Medicinal herbs and fungi. This includes traditional medicinal uses, current clinical trials, and recipes for how to make your own remedies at home.
Flavour profiles and recipes.
Foraging laws and rights.
Sustainable foraging practises, how to assess and mediate your impact on the local ecology, amidst broader discussions of where foraging sits in conversations about sustainability.
The relationship between foraging and land politics.
The importance of urban green spaces and what we can do to advocate for them.
There will also be space for quiet, mindful appreciation of the land.
Rights For Weeds will provide wild snacks and hot drinks.

London Events Community Walk

Harvesting - In accordance with local bylaws, we will NOT be harvesting, so no need to bring a basket. There will be pre-made snacks on offer for you to try some of what we've spoken about.
Location - the location will be revealed two weeks before the event to those who have bought a ticket. It will be in London, within Zone 3.
Children - children are welcome at no extra cost, but please get in touch with Rights For Weeds to let me know that they're attending.
Dogs - dogs are welcome on the condition that none of the other attendees are allergic or have any strong objections. Please get in touch with Rights For Weeds if you plan on bringing a dog.
Refunds - please note that tickets are non-refundable. However, you can resell your ticket through Outsavvy's ReSell service.
Accessibility - unfortunately, this walk is not suitable for all wheelchairs as we will be walking on wet, uneven ground. If you have any other accessibility needs, get in touch with Rights For Weeds.
