Come on a chilled, small group walk with like minded queer folks looking to connect with nature. This month we’re beating the ‘January blues’ with a wander down the River Stort from Harlow to Hoddesdon to see beautiful wetlands and birds.

Distance: 13 km / 8 miles
Difficulty rating: Beginner
Walking time: 3.5 hours
Kit needed: Comfortable shoes you don't mind getting wet/muddy, waterproof jacket (if rain is forecast), waterproof trousers (optional), warm clothes including a warm jumper and hat/gloves, packed lunch, snacks and water (at least 1 litre), and personal medication.
Pace: Not too fast. We’ll walk for about 1.5 hours then stop for lunch (probably on a bench or mossy log - bring a packed lunch!) then a little after that, we’ll stop at a pub to warm up, before walking for an hour back to the train station.
Elevation: This is a very flat walk with no hills (Elevation: 26m - 45m. Total ascent: 13 metres).
Accessibility: This walk will be on very likely muddy, unpaved, uneven footpaths, with tree roots and some gates/stiles. There are wheelchair accessible toilets at Harlow Town train station but other toilets en route are not accessible.

*Beginner walks are for people who have been on short walks before (walks with friends/family, dog walks, complete beginner walks in a group etc.) but want to try a half day walk that involves walking a little further with a few more gentle hills. Everyone is welcome but it is important that we all go at the same pace, so be prepared to walk slower than usual, especially if you are used to walking longer distances more frequently. The idea is to have a chilled time connecting with nature and community, and enjoying the journey together - not ‘smashing the hike' as fast as possible. Snack breaks and pauses to marvel at nature are encouraged!

The walk will take place in any weather, including rain (except in the case of a severe weather warning), so please be prepared to be outside for hours in all weather (see kit list).
No refunds - resale might be possible if there's a waiting list - feel free to give your ticket to a mate - just let me know so I can expect them.
