Join us for a discussion exploring MadZines and what we can learn from reading and making them. Through participatory and collective conversation, we will think about how zines can offer a tool for community, learning and mutual aid, particularly through the lens of Mad Studies and experiences of health, illness and wellness.
Hel Spandler is Professor of Mental Health Studies at the University of Lancashire and held a Wellcome Investigator Award (2020-2024) for a research project entitled ‘Crafting Contention: the role of Zines in challenging mental health knowledge and practice’ (www.madzines.org). Hel is also the editor of the long running radical mental health magazine Asylum which is in its 40 anniversary year.
This event will take place on Zoom and participants will receive a link prior to the event start time.
Whilst this session is FREE we always appreciate donations to help support us in continuing to run zine events in Cambridge.
