❤︎ Valentines Clay Club!! ❤︎
Looking for something fun and creative to do this Valentine's Day? Come along and discover the joy of sculpting with clay and create your very own ceramic pottery piece!
Whether you come along solo, with someone special or with friends or family, this workshop is a great way to have a fun, relaxed go at making something ceramic, ready to gift to someone special or as your own Valentine's gift!
In this 2 hour session you will get the chance to learn the process of hand building, from coiling, pinching and building slabs to SO much more! Once you've been guided through the process you will then have the opportunity to get creative and produce anything you want! This could be anything from a new mug, nibble bowl, trinket dish, jewellery, ashtray or sculpture, the world is your oyster!
Once your piece is finished, you will then also have the chance to paint with decorative underglazes onto your piece, which will turn bright and colourful when they're later fired in the kiln!
You will also be kept topped up with free tea and coffee throughout the workshop too!
After the workshop all the pieces will be fired in a kiln and glazed, ready to be adored! All pieces will be food and body-safe once fired!
This workshop will be run by Ben Saunders (he/him), a Manchester-based queer ceramicist and creative practitioner. Please see his Instagram for examples of his work! As with all workshops and events organised by Ben, this session will be prioritising queer joy, creativity and community. This is a safe space for queer people ❤︎ allies are also more than welcome too!
Do I Need Experience?
Absolutely not! This workshop is open to all abilities, you don't need to be an expert or have any experience in ceramics to join in! You will be guided through the whole process with practical demonstrations (and help if everything goes t*ts up!)
There will be examples of the type of things you can create on display to get your ideas flowing, or you can have free rein and bring your own extensive Pinterest board and create whatever you would like!
Whether you come along solo, with someone special or with friends or family, this workshop is a great way to have a fun, relaxed go at making something ceramic!
Additional Info
All materials are included in the ticket price, as well as free tea and coffee.
Please bring your own apron or wear clothes you don't mind getting some clay on - it does wash out with water, but avoid fabrics like suede, velvet and sequins!
The usual processing time to receive your pieces is 6 weeks, to account for multiple firings. All pieces will be food and body-safe once fired.
Pieces can either be collected from Manchester City Centre or can be posted out to you for a small fee (approx. £5) which can be arranged on the day of the workshop or when the piece is ready.

The space is on the first floor, accessed via a set of stairs. Unfortunately this venue is not wheelchair accessible.
There is a small kitchen available to make hot and cold drinks, which will be available throughout the workshop.
There are multiple toilets on the same level as the workshop space.
