hiiiii queers! we are running a fundraiser for sudan and congo on saturday 7th february at the people's letters bookshop in bethnal green.
please bring your rich friends who can donate to our beloved abroad. we will be donating to three causes, the first a link for conoglese refugees who are currently struggling to get basic needs met in burundi, already hundreds of refugees there have died from hunger and disease, after escaping the horrors of whats happening in eastern congo, they deserve to stop fighting for life. please see instagram @m_gapara17 for more information on what is happening there. Steven is an invaluable support for Congo and regularly shares the most difficult news and realities of life in Goma and beyond.
the second cause will be the sudan solidarity collective, which has raised over 1 million so far for sudan, and distributed across the country and neighbouring countries.
the third will be for sudanese activist and close friend who is currently based in berlin and battling the fascist state of germany. they need to pay for university fees, so in supporting sudan and the diaspora, we will be proudly donating to them too.
from 7pm we start, there will be somali food on sale, sudanese music and screen-printing, please bring an item/t-shirt to print on.
8pm the screenings start, we will show three short films about sudan and congo.
after the films, we will have discussion and a live performance from organiser and performer, freedom.
