Deptford Pride, took place on the 18th of August 2019 in Giffin Square, but we haven't stopped working!
In association with Queer Tours of London, we will be leading a walking tour on and around Deptford High Street on 21st September 2019, featuring stories of Deptford Dykes, pink palaces, Maritime mayhem, fierce feminists, crowded crypts of queers, and the newly-unravelled Elizabethan enigma of Marlowe's murder?
It will be led by local long-term Deptford resident and Deptford Pride co-organiser Ste Richardsson and Queer Tours of London guide Dani Singer. Even if you came to last year's event, you'll get lots of new information.
This is NOT just a history tour. We'll be talking about people who are still around today and who have been integral to the success of this community. At Deptford Pride 2019, We met people who have lived in Deptford for decades and have seen the shift in changing attitudes toward lesbian, gay, bi, trans and queer people over the years.
The tour will end at a queer-friendly venue (perhaps Little Nan's) where people are encouraged to stay for a drink and chat, possibly with some of the people who have been part of Deptford’s queer past and present.
By purchasing a Pay It Forward ticket, you'll be covering the cost of a ticket for someone else who'd otherwise be unable to attend.
If you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community and are unable to afford the cost of a ticket, please email lgbtq@deptfordpride.uk with your full name and subject ‘PAY IT FORWARD’ and we'll add you to the attendee list. We'll then allocate you with a free ticket as donations come in on a first-come, first-serve basis. Although we'll try our best to make sure everyone gets a ticket, we can't guarantee this as it relies on donations.
To save paper and ink, you do not need to print out a physical ticket, you will be added on to an attendee list. When you arrive, introduce yourself to Ste and tell them your name, and/or show your email confirmation.
