- What Younger LGBT+ Persons Are Teaching Us About Work, Identity, and Community?
Younger LGBT+ persons are often described as more anxious, more sensitive, or harder to manage at work. But what if they are simply responding — intelligently — to environments that haven’t kept pace with social, economic, and cultural change?
Drawing on direct two-decade experience of working with young LGBT+ persons within our community, this talk offers a rare window into what young LGBT+ people are actually navigating today — from identity and belonging to safety, mental health, and precarity. More importantly, it explores what their experiences are quietly teaching us about the future of work.
This session will challenge familiar assumptions about “resilience”, inclusion, and professionalism, and invite business leaders to rethink how psychological safety, leadership, and belonging are built in practice — not just in policy.
The talk will also offer a practical and thoughtful exploration of how businesses can work meaningfully with LGBT+ charities: moving beyond one-off donations towards partnerships that create shared learning, sustainable impact, and stronger pipelines between community and workplace.
This is not a call for charity — it’s a call for relevance, responsibility, and relationship across generations.
