Niche Artefact Bournemouth presents Love Hurts - an immersive artists’ exhibition and live performance evening. This s first event ‘Love Hurts’ will be exploring the complexity, tenderness, and quiet fractures that can live inside love.
Curated by Omen Kind, and developed in collaboration with University of the Arts Bournemouth students, presented in collaboration with BCP Green Party, this event brings together emerging visual artists and performers responding to the theme Love Hurts - an invitation to look beyond romance and into love as something that can hold, distort, protect, overwhelm, or wound.
Throughout the evening, original artworks will be unveiled and displayed alongside a silent auction, interwoven with live performances from local queer artists that may include burlesque, aerial arts, cabaret, drag, vocal performance, and queer storytelling. Each element is designed to sit in dialogue with the others, creating a space where art, body, sound, and audience meet.
Love Hurts asks difficult and intimate questions:
Where does care become control?
When does devotion become a burden?
What remains after rupture - and what must be released in order to survive?
This Bournemouth edition marks the first in a new series of Niche Artefact exhibitions from the collective’s Nottingham origins into a new coastal context. The project is supported by local partners who value community, creativity, and care - with proceeds helping to sustain future grassroots arts activity.
Expect an evening that is emotionally resonant, visually rich, wildly cheeky and unapologetically human.
