Overview
Come and see Books on the Rise's newest exhibition - '50 LGBTQIA+ Who Changed The World', by Florent Manelli!
'50 LGBTQI+ who changed the world' is a unique exhibition which pays tribute in 50 portraits to the activists, personalities, writers and artists who have advanced the LGBTQI+ movement and celebrates those who have fought to create a more inclusive and tolerant world. Come along to the gallery space at Books on the Rise to explore the exhibition, and its accompanying book by the same name published by Aurora Metro Books.
Some of the activists brought vividly to life in the panels have paid dearly for their courage in speaking out - facing imprisonment, violence or death. Others continue to challenge homophobic laws, cultural norms and religious intolerance to bring about a world where every child is able to grow up free to be themselves.
Featuring notable British figures including Olly Alexander, Mark Ashton, Michael Cashman, Alan Turing, Peter Tatchell, and Phyllis Akua Opoku-Gyimah (Lady Phyl).
