Twenty years ago Glasgow City Council introduced a pay scheme which, unknown at the time, would lead to the largest equal pay dispute in UK history. Over 8,500 people, the overwhelming majority of them women, took industrial action to demand fair pay.

In celebration of the Equal Pay Strike of 2018, Govanhill Baths are proud to announce the unveiling of a specially commissioned banner dedicated to this crucial piece of Scottish working class history. We will hear from those who took to the streets in 2018 and uncover how women on strike shaped Glasgow.
