Queer organising for Palestine in Britain: reflections, strategy and futures
Queers for Palestine is a London-based campaigning and direct action group, committed to the struggle for a just world, free of settler-colonialism, Zionism, and capitalism. You might have seen us lead the queer block at the national Palestine demos or seen us outside the charity Stonewall demanding that they stop pinkwashing genocide.
Now, we’re coming together for an all day symposium to clash with critical political questions about queer organising for Palestine in Britain.
If you care about justice and injustice in the world, about Palestine, and about the role of political movements in shaping our futures, you are welcome at this symposium.
If you are engaged in social justice and Palestine solidarity, and want to think collectively about organising, strategy, and political futures, this space is for you. We welcome students, academics, queer organisers, artists, journalists, community organisers, queer workers and trade unionists, people working in civil society organisations, and anyone involved in or curious about movements for justice and Palestine solidarity.
We’ve all watched the Palestine solidarity scene in Britain and across the world change significantly since October 2023. One of the most prominent arenas in which the issue of Palestine and the genocide there has been present is in our queer spaces and communities.
Come and join discussions with queer organisers here in Britain as we pause to understand the ways in which “pinkwashing” has become more prominent, debates around Palestine within the LGBTQ+ world have intensified, and how we can fight back. We’ll open the day with recorded contributions from queer organisers in Palestine to ground our discussions.
We’ll be providing lunch. Please donate £5-20 if you can to help us cover the costs, or donate more to cover food for someone else!
Stay late and join us for a relaxed social afterwards to unwind and reflect on what we’ve heard. There will be merch and info stalls, an exhibition of QFP propaganda art and photography, henna and music - more info to come!
