Slam Rules:
One Night Slam is a Two Round poetry slam, every competing poet performs twice.
Slammers will have a 3 minute time limit with a 10 second grace period, after that they'll start to be deducted points.
Must be your own work.
Sakinah:
Sakinah Frederica is a London-based spoken word poet and community builder who uses poetry as a medium for expression, vulnerability, and connection. A former One Night Slam Champion and the March 2026 Genesis Slam Champion, she regularly performs and headlines at events including Poets Palace and Flo Vortex. She is the founder and host of Dare to Speak, a monthly spoken word night creating a safe space for people to step beyond their comfort zones and discover the power of their voices. Sakinah is also part of the Poetry Pharmacy community, where she continues to learn and grow through poetry.
Repeat Beat Poet:
Peter deGraft-Johnson is a queer, neurodivergent, British-born Ghanaian writer, DJ, and creative consultant working with poetry, music, and histories from Black & Pan-African perspectives.

He has been featured by Amnesty International, BBC Radio, the UN at COP 26 and anthologised by Penguin. Peter has been a poet-in-residence at the Library Of Africa & The African Diaspora in Accra and BBC 6Music, and in 2023 was invited to join the Recording Academy.
Repeat Beat Poet has appeared at We Out Here, WOMAD, the Edinburgh Fringe, Cheltenham, and consecutive years at Love Supreme, alongside Ronnie Scott’s and The Jazz Café, and collaborating with Grammy award-winning jazz musicians Thundercat and Blue Lab Beats.
Since 2021 Peter has delighted dancefloors and airwaves with his specialist African music selections, regularly DJing for London jam Steam Down, appearing at the 2025 London Jazz Festival, on NTS Radio, supporting Afro-rock legends Osibisa, and holding monthly residencies on The Boat Pod, and NYC/LDN’s Soho Radio.
