SILVERTOWN - THE MONOLOGUES
Jonny Woo presents a collection of monologues from his upcoming play Silvertown, set in a 1960's gay pub in London's Royal Docks. Taking on the personae of each of the characters: Rachel (Raymond), the pub landlord; Pat, his sharp tongued acerbic partner; Reg, his past lover with a dark secret and Stella Minge a local drag queen and host of notorious house parties - Jonny takes his audience into a secret world of strength, humour, romance, fear, survival and conflict; at a moment in time when having sex with another man became ‘legal’ but the attitudes of society were not so keen to catch up.
This is a continuation of his research into his characters ahead of a planned showing of the full play in the summer of 2027. A unique opportunity to see how Jonny, the playwright, sees his characters; how they think, what they share, what they conceal. His Silvertown, is a world full characters, dynamism, hilarity, cruelty, struggle, danger and passion.
