VENUE CHANGE for weeks 2 + 3
Week 1 (8th April) will be at The Post Bar.
Venue tbc for 15th and 22nd April - stay updated by checking this page, or following @solarpunkldn or @annabels.pretend.artpage, or by emailing me annabel@solarpunk.london
A collective solarpunk exploration of zining
Join Bel for a 3-part series of gently facilitated zine-making workshops, open to all and completely free!
Expect mini-activities, solarpunk prompts, collage, and plenty of discussion☀
📓💭🖊✂🖼🎨🖨🗣
The series involves
-making different types of zines,
-exploring different media and materials,
-testing different ways of zining collaboratively,
and culminates in the launch of SOLARITY, a new school zine made by London School of Solarpunk students (i.e. workshop participants!)
This is not about artistic ability; it's a low-intensity environment to try thinking-through-doing.
It's a chance to:
🖍 DIY together
🖍 mess up
🖍 share and generate ideas
🖍 meet some interesting, cool people
🖍 have a laugh
📅🕖
Join on any date
Each week builds on the last, so it's great if you can come to all 3, but it's not essential
Drop-in, 7pm to 10pm - no ticket required
The suggestion is to arrive before 8:30pm, and to allow yourself around 1.5 hours to participate (but most people find they want 3+ hours once they get started!)
If this all sounds like fun, but you're an introvert and it's a school night, feel free to join us in the space for independent making any time🤗
Hi, this is Bel! (ig: @annabels.pretend.artpage) I'm putting on this workshop series as part of my UCL postgraduate research placement at London School of Solarpunk. I'm using action-research to explore the potential of zine-making as a creative strategy for solarpunk education. I'll give more information on the day, but if you have questions, email me annabel@solarpunk.london.
Whether or not you decide to be part of the research project, you're absolutely welcome to come along to do some making. That said, I encourage you to throw yourself into it - come for all 3 weeks, engage with the workshops, help shape the future of zines at London School of Solarpunk!
*The yard is a covered, enclosed outdoor “room” at the back of The Post Bar, beyond the main space (where Solarpunk Social will be taking place). The Post Bar serves plenty of soft drink/hot drink options as well as alcohol.
