Join environmental educator and queer ecologist, Abi Young, for a guided exploration of Epping Forest.
Did you know that fungi are non binary, that many invertebrate species don’t need males to reproduce or that our favourite chip-nabbing friends - the seagulls - are in fact lesbian icons?!
Abi will guide us through the ancient woodland of Epping Forest, where we will explore a variety of habitats and wildlife through the lens of queer ecology - reimagining our understanding of the natural world and celebrating the diversity of all living things.
Epping Forest is home to over 55,000 ancient trees and is the largest open space in London, covering over 6000 acres of habitat mosaic including ancient woodland, heathland, grassland and wetland, which support a wide variety of plants, fungi and animal species.
Abi Young (they/them) is an Environmental Educator with a passion for engaging people in the natural world and inspiring them to protect it. Their work includes queer ecology, increasing inclusion and access to nature, as well as inspiring climate action through outdoor learning.
