As part of PEPcot’s continuing season NO BUDGET? NO PROBLEM! celebrating all things DIY, they are collaborating with East London’s premiere late night horror double bill club Category H films to bring Andy Milligan’s SEEDS (1968) to The Piehouse! Only this 28th of May, pies at 6:30pm for a 7:30pm screenings start.
Andy Milligan is the king of bad taste DIY horror filmmaking. Creating over forty nightmarish works from his base on Staten Island, SEEDS is his surreal, incestuous melodrama which some would say is his magnum opus. A truly mean spirited piece of work, SEEDS also operates as queer horror at its finest, a testament to the breaking down of traditional family values for something far stranger and far more sinister.
Come and marvel at a family ruled by an angry, alcoholic, matriarch (based on Milligan’s own mother!), in a film where plot is secondary to screaming matches. Best seen with an audience, SEEDS is a transmission from the darkest heart of NYC’s low budget scene.
CONTENT WARNING: SEEDS contains sexual content, references to incest and strong use of alcohol.
NO BUDGET? NO PROBLEM! A DIY FILM SEASON
PEPCOT and the Piehouse share a DIY-DNA – we both want to create places in which people can be sociable, political, creative and experimental, together. So, to kick off the PEPCOT at the Piehouse residency we have planned a season celebrating the broad church that is DIY film-making. Across four dates we will introduce films made on a shoestring from across very different genres, times, sensibilities, and places. Two of the screenings are in collaboration with brilliant programmers – Category H & Transmissions – who are coming from Dalston down to Deptford to show some DIY gems on the Piehouse big screen.
Category H is a horror film club co-programmed by Molly Miles and Scary Claire. They specialise in late night double bills and unusual pairings. Keep with with their screenings on Instagram @categoryhfilms.
