Painful periods, painful sex and other vaginal health challenges have become so normalised that many of us are told to simply “get on with it.” But most of us have a sense that there is more to the story.
What if your vagina is communicating to you, both physiologically and on deeper levels. And what if there are simple, accessible health principles for vaginal health that are in your own hands?
This workshop can help you personally and professionally. It’s for you if you’re struggling with vaginal, menstrual or pelvic health issues and feel lost or confused by what your GP has told you, and you’re curious about how you can support yourself beyond the allopathic route.
It’s also for you if you’re a practitioner working with women and folks and their vaginas and pelvic bowls and you want to hear a fresh narrative around pelvic health from an osteopath who is also Holistic Pelvic Care Practitioner, and menstrual cycle researcher, currently doing a PhD about menstrual cycle awareness and the moving body.
When we understand the physiology behind the vagina and pelvic bowl — particularly the role of inflammation and congestion — we begin to see what may worsen symptoms and what can genuinely help ease them.
Honouring the DIY legacy of radical menstrual activism from the third wave of feminism, in this workshop we will:
- Discuss the cultural, historical and societal context for why many of us are disconnected from our vaginas and how this impacts our health
- Explore and demystify the wild and poetic anatomy of the vagina and the pelvic bowl
- Look at the physiology behind common vaginal and pelvic health issues and I will guide you in a range of practices to support healing, such as breath work, movement, visualisation
- There will time to ask questions, exchange, discussion
