The Event
Join Sooks (and support TBA) for an evening of fantasy romance, dreamy songs, and the very special release of their debut single Dream Lover. Hosted at the Cavendish Arms, Friday May 1st promises a night of great music from one of London’s rising alt-indie bands. As well as showcasing the single, there will be more original music from Sooks and covers of your favourite rock and indie artists, including Maggie Rogers, CMAT, and Wet Leg.
The dream-like, Twin Peaks-inspired decor of the Cavendish Arms promises a vibrant evening featuring great music, lots of dancing, and - if you’re lucky - some exclusive Sooks merch. Join Sooks and friends as we celebrate their debut single, Dream Lover with music that speaks to the themes of limerence and fantasy, and of the crossroad between love and despair.
At its core, Dream Lover tells the story of an imagined workplace affair; the quiet thrill of loaded glances across a desk, the excitement of being offered a cup of coffee, the private narratives that we build in our heads and will to be true. Dream Lover captures the intoxicating tension of limerence and office goggles; the in-between space of what we feel and what we know will never happen. It is about the stories we tell ourselves, when a fantasy feels more vivid than reality.
About Sooks
Sooks are an alt-folk indie trio, performing a mix of covers and original songs. Comprised of Jasmine (lead vocalist/guitarist), Holly (bassist) and Sara (drummer), the trio are able to bring a big sound, big energy, and a generous helping of whimsy to the stage. With a 99 flake in one hand and their instruments in the other, the band pride themselves on delivering tongue-and-cheek sets, complete with witty onstage banter and type-A precision.
