A full day of artist-led workshops with Queer Nature Club at East Quay Watchet
For the LGBTQIA+ community, friends & allies, & anyone interested in exploring nature through a ‘queer' perspective.
East Quay will host an informal, relaxed day of practical hands-on workshops including creative writing, drawing & printmaking exploring queer birds, animals and ecosystems.
With Queer Nature Club South West, led by artists Sixto-Juan Zavala and Daniel Baker-Wells.
The session will include:
- An exploration of queer nature poets, creative writing through nature, and using text in rewilding
- Drawing birds from life and the imagination with Sixto-Juan Zavala
- Experimental print-making with natural inks and natural materials
There will be the opportunity to contribute your work and ideas to a new commissioned banner that will be co-created by LGBTQIA+ communities across Somerset, Devon, and Dorset; and which will be taken to future Pride parades.
No prior experience necessary.
After the workshop, you are welcome to stay and watch Drag on the Quay, East Quay’s annual drag show featuring South West performers, later that evening at 7:30pm
Venue and Access: East Quay, Watchet. The workshop will take place in a fully accessible venue, with gender-neutral and disabled toilets. Paid parking is available near East Quay next to the Watchet Visitor Centre.
