This is a charity fundraising event! 😻 All ticket proceeds will be donated to Celia Hammond Animal Trust.
Scrunchies are an amazing way to use up leftover yarn to dramatic effect, practice new techniques, and let your creativity loose. They knit up fast and make great gifts!
The workshop will cover:
- The basics of scrunchie construction, including circular knitting
- How to incorporate different textural and colour work techniques
- Mixing different yarn weights
All materials will be provided - but if you wish to use your own leftover or novelty yarn, or your own short (~40cm) circular needles, feel free to bring them along!
Prerequisite skills: You should be able to cast on, bind off, knit and purl.
For more experienced knitters, we will be offering a range of techniques, so everyone gets to try out something new!
Why We are raising funds for Celia Hammond animal trust
This incredible charity rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes unwanted and stray cats across London and the South East. But as a no kill shelter, the continually increasing demand has put them under incredible strain.
Right now their Lewisham branch is caring for around 200 cats, from tiny abandoned kittens to older, shy or special-needs cats who need a bit more time and patience before they find a home. It urgently requires building work to be able to continue supporting all the cats that rely on it.
The Venue
The workshop is being held at The Catford House, a pub with social purpose run by GCDA, a local social enterprise with over 40 years' experience creating community-led projects.
Drinks, food and snacks will be available to purchase at the bar and the food pop up tent all afternoon.
You'll find us in the Georgian Hall - the atrium space leading to the garden at the back of the pub.
