Come and talk about death over tea and biscuits.
We're not often given much room for conversations around death, dying, grief, and all the feelings that come attached. If you’ve ever felt like you’d want a space to delve into what death means to you, your fears around it, your hopes, someone you’ve lost, or simply listen to others share their relationship with it in a warm and welcoming environment, there’s a seat here for you. There's no agenda, direction, no right answers, and no pressure to share anything you're not ready to.
Death Cafés aren't grief support groups or therapy - they're just conversations. The thread goes wherever the people in the room take it, so it’s unique every time. It’s a space that intends to break the taboo around something that we all have in common.
In queer communities, the silence around death can carry its own particular weight, because of losses that went unacknowledged and grief that often didn’t get to be visible. This is a room that knows that, so bring whatever you’re carrying.
You’re welcome to arrive with something specific in mind, or just curiosity.
Open to all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life.
QueerSwap Studio is step-free with an accessible toilet on the same floor. Tea and coffee are available, and you’re welcome to bring your own snacks or drinks into the studio. Please refrain from bringing nuts or shellfish.
QueerSwap Studio is a non-profit community creative space. All proceeds for this activity go to the facilitators of Badge Cafe. If you’d like to support QueerSwap Studio, consider becoming a Friend of QueerSwap!
