Hello stompers!
Get your boots at the ready…we have a BIG OL' STOMP for you for July!
🏳️⚧️This is also our TRANS PRIDE FUNDRAISER and all money from our ticket sales will be donated to Trans Pride Brighton, so come and get involved! 🏳️⚧️
This is a stomp of 2 halves. We'll set off from Lewes and reach the top of Mount Caburn (definitely not a mountain) and Beddingham Hill (definitely a HILL) before meandering back to Lewes via the Oust River.
This stomp is 20km and will take between 5-6 hours with a couple of well placed breaks. PLEASE only book a ticket if you feel you can walk this distance at a moderate & steady pace.
Key Info :
- DISTANCE : 20 km
- ASCENT : 350m
- DURATION : 5-6 hours
TERRAIN : Steep ascents! Steep descents! Then a really lovely flat section, thank goodness! Mostly uneven, natural hiking paths with some roads and pavements en route. The riverside section may be soggy / muddy - get your boots on for this one! Bonus points for hiking / trekking poles!!
Meeting Point :
We'll be meeting at Brighton Station in the morning and taking the train to Lewes. Ticket holders can join at stops along the way if they're more convenient, or meet at our arrival time at Lewes Station. Full timings will be shared with stompers approx 72 hours before the stomp.
General Info:
Dykeing Boots (@dykeingboots) is a community of dykes, queers and allies based in Brighton and Hove.
All are welcome on our walks and we do not tolerate any transphobia, racism, homophobia, sexism, ableism or any similar shite
🍁 There'll be 2x ‘proper’ break points - bring a packed lunch, snacks, water & more snacks! You may want to bring something to sit on & an extra layer for breaks.
🥾 As always, we cannot predict the British weather - please ensure you have appropriate and comfortable footwear and clothing for the stomp. We DO stomp in all weathers, but safety & enjoyment is an important factor also and the DB Team reserve the right to alter the route - including reversing, shortening or changing - at any point & will aim to inform stompers of any changes at the earliest opportunity.
🍻 If you’d like to stick around after the stomp, we’ll be looking to find a pub in Lewes that can accommodate us all!
🐕 We LOVE having dogs on our stomps, and ask that before you decide whether to bring a furry friend along you read the countryside code guidance linked here and agree to follow the guidance when with Dykeing Boots. Basically, you are responsible for your pup so keep them in your sight and make sure to clean up after them
💷 We operate on a pay what you feel basis. Please know your ticket is valid whatever you pay, including if you get a free ticket. If you can pay, our usual suggested donation is £3, but as this is our Trans Pride fundraiser, please donate what you can as all our ticket sales will go straight to Trans Pride Brighton 🏳️⚧️
🎟️ We cap the number of tickets for our stomps to keep numbers manageable & social :
- If the stomp is sold out, add yourself to the waitlist!
