We're doing Wet Muppet Cinema! Come along for a screening of The Great Muppet Caper! (1981)
It's the Muppet heist movie featuring romance, hijinks, and elaborate synchronised water ballet dream sequences - the Muppets get wet! And ride bikes! And break out of prison!
Reporters and ‘twin brothers’ Kermit and Fozzie Bear, along with their photographer Gonzo the Great, travel to London, England to interview fashion designer and recent jewel theft victim Lady Holiday (Diana Rigg). Between several musical numbers, and along with Miss Piggy (Lady Holiday's secretary) and various other Muppets, they are quickly caught up in a jewel heist.
This screening will be fundraising for the Carnival Against Fascism which will be taking place on the 13th of June around Brighton. Racists are planning on marching in our city and so, in defiance, many local leftist groups have joined in coalition to celebrate our resistance to racism and in defence of Brighton with a welcoming and diverse carnival of creativity.

THE FILM:
The studio thought Jim Henson's dark fantasy film ‘Dark Crystal’ would falter at the box office so they told him to make a cash-grab Muppet film and this is that movie! It's less sincere that other Henson productions but has more jokes and technical feats pushing the limits of what felt, foam and wires can withstand.
MORE ABOUT Carnival Against Fascism:
In their own words: '’Join us on the streets to celebrate our resistance to racism and in defence of our city. The march of the far right ends here. Everyone welcome!"
“We will not stand by while they call for our friends, neighbours, colleagues and family, to be ethnically cleansed from our beautiful, diverse communities. We want the day to be a carnival of creativity, a day where everyone feels welcome and it's a joy to take part. Please organise and prepare for June 13 in any way you choose: let our collective response be as diverse as our city. Time to get organised.”
