It has been a whole ten years of colour, cardboard, community, courage and joy on the streets, beaches and venues of Margate, from one day to a range of events yearly. To mark this milestone, Margate Pride is creating Talk of the Town - a new film that captures what Margate Pride means to them.
Made in collaboration with poet Kit Griffiths, Talk of the Town will weave together footage from our community with Kit's words, and we're calling on anyone who has ever felt part of Margate Pride to share their moments with us.

🗓 Sunday 7th June
⏰ 11am - 1pm
📍 The Romantic of Margate, Swyen Road
🎟 £3 - Tickets on our Outsavvy
Join Kit at The Romantic for a relaxed 90-minute workshop, all about the act of pride. We’ll read queer poems and do short exercises on self love, tenacity, and the desire to be shameless. Sharing your writing is totally optional and not expected; all you need to bring is yourself, and your favourite notebook if you have one; paper, pens and snacks will be provided, and I’ll keep extra time free for chatting after the workshop!
The Romantic of Margate is a welcome home for artists and their friends. Along with permanent studios, we have public-shared space where we host a huge variety of events, including exhibitions, workshops, markets, salons, live performances and casual late night jams. Come and see us.
ACCESSIBILITY: We are ground floor and wheelchair accessible. Our toilet cubicles are small and we do not have a disabled toilet, but will give any assistance we can. We have a range of seating options - drop Kit a message if you have particular needs so they can make sure they’ll be met.
If the ticket price is a barrier to joining this workshop, please do get in touch.
