"A People's History of London" with Lindsey German & John Rees
Local residents and activists, Lindsey and John bring a wealth of political experience to their subject, the history of London is the story of its people – its workers, immigrants, pamphleteers, agitators, exiles and revolutionaries. The updated version of their book includes discussion of the Battle of Cable Street, and other important landmarks in local – and national – labour history.
Lindsey and John, co-founders of Stop the War, have also been heavily involved in campaigns demanding the right to protest. It will be fascinating to hear from them how current debates around mass popular action relate to those of the past.
