The Divine Fringe Presents…
Split Bill: Sheet Show & A Good Strong Drink
Plowman and Cummins: Sheet Show (WIP) A Good Strong Drink
A work-in-progress clown show revolving around one prop: a sheet. Across performance art and physical comedy, the show is driven by unruly objects, slapstick and disobedience.
The sheet leads; it is a curtain, tablecloth, dress, partition. The scenes are set up and broken down as two clowns grapple for power, attention and authority. The clowns play, everything falls apart. Highlighting the illusion of control between them and their surroundings, this show uses physical theatre and live sound to convey a turbulent relationship within a turbulent world.
Concerning implicit gendered etiquette and roles, dynamics become messy, grotesque, bossy. Plowman and Cummins revel in subversion, where chaos threatens the status quo.
‘Plowman and Cummins’ is artist clown duo Sally Plowman and Cailin Cummins. They perform across international fine art, cabaret and comedy contexts. Last year they performed at Beaconsfield Gallery, London; Juxtapose Art Fair, Aarhus; Supermarket Independent Art Fair, Stockholm, Brighton Fringe and Queerfest, Norwich, among others.

Daniel Darling: A Good Strong Drink (WIP)
When an unexpected visitor shows up on closing night, fiery starlet Aubrey Well is forced to reconcile with all that she has tossed away in pursuit of success, and question the depth of her desires. Is extravagance enough? Is this really the life she wanted? Could she change if she tried? Who cares?! Aubrey is here to show you a good time. She’s entertaining, she’s brash, and most of all: she’s glamorous. It’s no business of hers whose fingers got caught under her heels on the way up…
A Good Strong Drink is a work in progress with ambitions of developing into a full-length show that will look at what exactly glamour is, how it relates to wanting, and just how much we are willing to sacrifice to make ourselves desirable.
Daniel Darling is a writer and performer with a love for all things camp and a flair for the sincerely stupid. He hopes to liberate all the world’s shame by playing dress up, and so far it seems to be working!
