Join Scottish Trans for our second meeting in Lanarkshire to discuss how we can campaign to improve access to trans healthcare locally!
Trans healthcare in Scotland, especially in areas that refer to Sandyford, is in a dire state. In fact, recent figures show that Sandyford has the longest waiting time in the UK. We think the main cause of the length of Sandyford's waiting list is the sheer volume of referrals they get - they currently cover roughly half of Scotland's population. Eight health boards across Scotland refer to Sandyford, and we believe the only way to fix the waiting times would be for more of these health boards to begin to deliver gender identity healthcare themselves. So, we want to start campaigning in these health boards!
This second meeting will build on the discussions from the first, including who we might want to approach to talk about trans healthcare in Lanarkshire, potentially meeting with the health board and how we can keep the campaign going! If you want to take action to improve trans healthcare and have some time and energy to spare, please come along!
Who is this workshop for?
It’s for anyone over the age of 18 who is trans or non-binary and living in the NHS Lanarkshire health board. There is no need to have attended the first meeting or have any experience whatsoever in campaigning - just a desire to make trans healthcare better!
Attending the event:
The event will be held at The Town House, 102 Cadzow St, Hamilton ML3 6HH. The Town House is a 15 minute walk from Hamilton Central train station and aroudn 5 minutes from the M74.
It will run between 6.00pm and 8.00pm. There will be a 15 minute break half way though the event. There will be refreshments provided.
