Explore abstract textile collage through stitch, layering, and reclaimed materials in this relaxed, queer-friendly creative workshop in London.
Using scrap fabrics, thread, and mixed materials, participants will create an experimental textile artwork while learning simple hand-stitching and collage techniques. The session begins with an introduction to foundational embroidery stitches before moving into playful composition, layering, texture-building, and intuitive making.
This workshop encourages a process-led approach to creativity, with space to explore colour, shape, abstraction, and personal expression in a supportive and inclusive environment. No prior experience is needed — beginners and experienced makers are equally welcome.
All materials are provided, including embroidery floss, needles, scrap textiles, calico fabric, and shared workshop tools. Participants are also welcome to bring old clothing, fabric scraps, yarn, paper, or other materials they’d like to reuse within their piece.
