Lambeth Mutual Aid Screening for Palestine & Lebanon - ‘1948’ directed by Mohammad Bakri

Join us on the 1st of June for screening of ‘1948’ (dir. Mohammad Bakri), fundrasing for mutual aid in Gaza and Lebanon.
The documentary records the memories of a group of Palestinian elders, mainly veterans from the 1948 expulsions. Their stories of refugee struggles are interspersed with poems of Mahmoud Darwish.
We will be raising funds for two groups:
- Bridge of Solidarity (@bridge.of.solidarity), an anti-capitalist grassroots mutual aid group on the ground in Gaza, providing support for marginalised Gazans, those without access to phones or English.
- Barzakh Bookshop (@brzkh.space), a bookshop in Hamra providing vital support to displaced people in Beirut, from free meals to mattresses.
We will be joined by UAL Students for Justice in Palestine (@ual_sjp), who will be selling art.
After the screening, which will begin at 7:30pm, we invite you to take part in an open discussion around the film. We will be serving free snacks and refreshment.
