After both undertaking individual remote and flexible residencies, artist members Oxana and Jen are comeing together for a combined sharing event, to show works in progress and collaborative excercises in development. This is an opportunity to take part, watch, and contribute to active discussions around Oxana and Jen's work. The day will start with a workshop and discussion with Oxana, followed by 45 minute break, and culminating with Jen's sharing and discussion.

12pm, Oxana Banshikova - “Unspoken Alignment”

Workshop, creative exercises and discussion

“Unspoken Alignment” is work rooted in Bharatanatyam, exploring contemporary contexts of personal and collective misalignment. How fear, doubt, and differing intentions affect the way we work together. Through movement based tasks and shared goals, participants will engage in collaborative exercises using objects such as chairs or tables while navigating different motivations within a group.

The session is open to all movers regardless of experience or style, accessible movement tools inspired by South Asian dance practices will be provided in the beginning of the session.

Reflection and conversation after the exercises will form an important part of the process and contribute to the future development of the piece.

Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement. No physical contact or partnering experience is required.

2pm, Jen Wren - ESPE

You are warmly invited to an open sharing of ESPE, a work-in-progress by Jen Wren.

This session offers a glimpse into the unfolding research and development process, presenting excerpts, ideas, and provocations as they currently stand. Following the sharing, you’ll be invited into a facilitated conversation shaped by specific questions—creating space for thoughtful reflection, dialogue, and exchange that will actively contribute to the future direction of the work.

ESPE is the dance of a travellers tale born from the fire of persecution, drawing upon ancestral bloodlines and rhythms. A fierce truth teller, ESPE’s tale questions, are our doubts mere echoes of our inner demons, inherent traits, celestial alignments, or are they instead insidious seeds sown by others.

ESPE draws from her multiple cultures, art forms and languages combining traditional and contemporary arts from Scotland, Cape Breton and Spain. She dances, sings, plays music and crafts on stage.

Unapologetic, ESPE lures audiences to the edge of their seats as she finally embraces every aspect of her character, exposing her true self whilst leaving the audience wondering what on earth is she going to do next.
