About the Workshop
Brazilian funk is a vibrant cultural expression that represents creativity, identity, resilience, and joy. Born in local communities and transformed into one of the country’s most influential musical movements, funk brings people together through music, dance, and art while celebrating stories, talent, and diverse forms of expression.
In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to explore the essence of Brazilian funk, its cultural journey, and its importance in Brazilian society. It will be a dynamic, fun, and culture-filled class, featuring plenty of interaction, rhythm, and learning. More than just learning dance moves, participants will experience the energy and cultural richness that make Brazilian funk one of the most popular and influential music genres in Brazil. An engaging experience that celebrates music, movement, and the diversity of Brazilian culture.

About Bellas da Silveira
Bellas da Silveira is a Black trans artist from Rio de Janeiro working across dance, performance, carnival arts and somatic practice. With a foundation in Afro-Brazilian and contemporary dance, her work celebrates the body as a site of joy, transformation and resistance.
This summer marks Bellas’ second UK/European tour where she will bring powerful Brazilian dance workshops to the UK and beyond.
Bellas has performed and taught across Brazil, UK, France and Germany with groups like Portela, Paraíso do Tuiuti, Queer Salsa, Popola, and Amigos da Onça, and at major festivals including Rock in Rio, Migration Matters Festival, Bristol Pride and Spanta. Her practice is grounded in ancestry, collective empowerment and radical embodiment.
