From Club Bananas, artist Banana Holdwin - in collaboration with DAS Art Department- invites you to Textured Art Making… 🦋🌈
A brand new, inclusive Art Class that’s low-pressure and open to people from all creative backgrounds - no previous art training necessary.
Tickets are £15 per person (we wish to keep our classes inclusive, so if you require a cheaper ticket please send us a message and we’ll see what we can do!)
For this class we will be creating textured artworks comprised of various elements - layers, shapes, colours and mixed-materials. We will begin with a base drawing - this can be something very simple, a few scribbles or expressive marks (in pencil, pastel or marker) and from this, we will work on building texture and overlapping layers to create a finished artwork! 🪄🖼️
All materials will be provided but you are very welcome to bring any craft supplies you’d like to experiment with. (Materials/ fabrics, coloured paper, card, magazines, beads, pens, coloured pencils, stickers etc). We will be using; pencils, pastels, needles and thread, glue, stamps, fabrics and dried flowers🌼🍃
Banana will lead a demonstration offering various ways of creating these textured and colourful mixed-media artworks. There are plenty of styles that can be adopted and guests will have the option to either; make a piece based off Banana’s style or, use their imagination to experiment with the different materials and art utensils 🖌️ 💫
Mixed-Media Art is full of possibilities- it ties together various artistic elements and craft practises and allows for an absolute freedom of expression. There is no need to be precise or to follow any strict methodology or rules to create your art piece.
Through blending different methods together and engaging with the different textures and materials, participants are encouraged to be inventive and to get stuck into the process. There is a sense of excitement involved in discovering new outcomes through utilising a mixture of materials and techniques. 🗝️✨
I find that this style allows for a peacefulness in the process of making, which I believe stems from the ability to break from convention…in other words, it feels fantastically freeing to be allowed to be messy and allow your creativity to expand to vast possibilities! 🦋🎶
The class offers; a sense of creative freedom and curiosity in the making process; a chance for innovation and new ideas; and the opportunity to meet other like-minded art-loving individuals! 🌞✨
All ages and abilities welcome! Club Bananas events are low-pressure and open to artistic and curious minded individuals. The events focus on enjoying the creative process and socialising with other like minded people in the community. 👩🏼🎨 🌈
It is a safe space for everyone: LGBTQ+ friendly with zero tolerance for bullying or discrimination of any kind. We ask you adhere to this policy.
Unfortunately it is not a wheelchair accessible space - for classes with step free access message Banana - there are various Club Bananas workshops across the month held at different venues (including wheelchair friendly spaces). We’d love to see you at another one! 🌷
I can’t wait to see you there and to create some bright and textured artworks together!
Best wishes for now,
Banana 🍌
