About Tele Hill Arts Club:
This exhibition is the culmination of the first iteration of Tele Hill Arts Club: a community-driven series of creative intergenerational workshops, lead by local artists alongside assistant facilitators drawn from staff at Hill Station Cafe. Artists Communal Clay, Nic Sanderson and Molly Bonnell were each paired with a community group and led a series of three workshops in ceramics, furniture and textiles. Over the course of these nine workshops, new artworks were created that will find a permanent home and use at Hill Station Cafe, reflecting its diverse locals.
With an emphasis on supporting non-traditional pathways into the arts, this project upskills staff from Hill Station Café to become assistant creative facilitators. They have been paired with one of the 3 artists and have supported the facilitation of all of the creative workshops. Tele Hill Arts Club fosters intergenerational connection, local pride and inclusive skill-building with accessible approach at its core.
