Write to Roam is a writing workshop woven into a hike. For this month’s hike we are walking from Virginia Waters to Windsor🌳
This is a community event created to bring people together, in nature, whilst connecting with your creative self. The creative writing workshop consists of simple exercises, with no pressure to share your writing with the rest of the group.
Anyone is welcome at Write to Roam, you do not have to work in a creative field to take part. All we ask is that you approach the day with kindness towards others. Write to Roam is for anyone who uses writing as a creative outlet. The hike a chance for you to connect with nature, through creativity.
You can come armed with an idea you’re currently working on, use the prompts to get started on something new, or just see where the vibe takes you ✏️
We’ll meet and gather at Virginia Waters train Station, which is the start of the trial. At the end of the day we will arrive back at Windsor & Eton central station to catch the train home.
Meeting Point: Virginia Waters Station (outside Carry on Coffee)
Meeting Time: 10:35am
Hike: Moderate 12.5k
Train Departure: if you are travelling from London, I recommend booking the 9:48am-10:31am from Waterloo to Virginia Waters. Feel free to make your own way to the station, ready for 10:35am.
When we get to Windsor & Eton Central station, trains back to London run every 10 minutes costing between £5 - £9. I recommend booking an open return, or purchasing one on the day when we finish the trail. It’s also 1 stop away from the Elizabeth Line so there are multiple options for getting back into London.
The end time is subject to change based on the pace of the group (and this is a moderate route, so please take this into account before booking!).
Write to Roam hikes take place once a month and the trails vary between easy, moderate and hard. Each month we take a different route, stopping to write 3 times along the hike.
Keep an eye on the weather and please check the FAQ’s doc for details about lunch, loos, shoes, what to bring etc. You will receive an email 48hrs before the hike as a reminder of the event. If you have any questions, please email at commonground.ldn@gmail.com
