Join us for an intimate evening with author, podcaster and storyteller Rosie Turner as she discusses her book, Girlfriend Material: An Honest Guide to Dating Women and Owning Your Identity.
Taking place at Little Louie, Elephant Park, this special event will explore the themes at the heart of Rosie's acclaimed new book: identity, sexuality, dating, friendship, self-discovery and the freedom to live authentically.
Warm, funny and deeply honest, Girlfriend Material is written for anyone who has ever questioned who they are, felt "othered", or wanted permission to take up more space in their own life. Blending personal stories with practical advice, Rosie opens up conversations around:
- Sexuality and fluidity
- Dating women and navigating relationships
- The "grey area" of attraction and identity
- Coming out, including later in life
- Friendship, intimacy and self-acceptance
The evening will feature a conversation with Rosie, audience Q&A, and an opportunity to connect with others in the queer community in a relaxed and welcoming setting. We have a bar, as well as coffees and similar thoughout the event!
Whether you're questioning, out and proud, newly exploring your identity, or simply interested in thoughtful discussions around modern relationships and belonging, this event offers a space for curiosity, reflection and connection. Questions will be hosted by La Monocle's Sam!
The £25 ticket includes a copy of Girlfriend Material (Bloomsbury, 2026).

REFUND POLICY & EVENT INFORMATION
La Monocle is a volunteer-run fundraising event. Ticket sales go directly toward covering venue hire, performers, and production costs.
Because of this, tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled or rescheduled.
Please note:
• Bar service and staffing are operated by the venue, not the La Monocle team, so we are unable to control bar wait times or service speed.
• Venue capacity and facilities (including toilets) are set and managed by the venue. We adhere strictly to the capacity limits provided to us.
• La Monocle is an open and inclusive community event. The crowd and atmosphere may vary from night to night and we welcome attendees of all backgrounds and ages.
• Music programming, volume levels, and performances are curated for the space and may differ from traditional club nights.
By purchasing a ticket, you acknowledge that the event is independently organised and volunteer-run.

A quick note for anyone attending La Monocle events:
La Monocle is a volunteer-run fundraiser and community night. Our team organises the programming, artists, and space, but some parts of the venue experience are operated independently.
• The bar and staff are run by the venue
• Capacity and facilities are set by the venue
• We always operate within the limits given to us
As our events have grown recently, we’re working closely with venues to improve things like bar service and flow for future nights.
Our aim is to create an open, welcoming space for a wide mix of people and communities, and the crowd can vary from event to event.
We really appreciate everyone who comes to support and helps make these nights happen. If you ever have feedback, please email contact@lamonocle.co.uk so we can properly review it with the team.
